1. The Japanese and U.S. national security advisers have stressed the importance of the Japan-U.S. alliance in their first talks since the inauguration of President Joe Biden. The head of Japan’s National Security Secretariat, Kitamura Shigeru, and the U.S. National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan, talked over the phone for about 30 minutes on Thursday.
