She’s the first female Japanese boxer to win an Olympic title. 2.In the final Olympic men’s gymnastics contest (Horizontal Bar), the host nation’s Hashimoto Daiki took his second gold of the Games. The 19-year-old first took the top tier on the medal podium after his stellar performance in the men’s individual all-around last week. 3. New Zealand’s Laurel Hubbard has become the first openly transgender athlete to compete at the Olympics. She competed in women’s weightlifting at the Tokyo Games, but did not win any medals. All eyes were on the 43-year-old veteran in the over-87-kilogram category. Hubbard was born male, but changed her name eight years ago and underwent hormone therapy to transition before resuming weightlifting.
