1. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and South Korean President Moon Jae-in have reaffirmed joint efforts to have the U.N. Security Council pass a new resolution imposing tougher sanctions on North Korea.
2. Prime Minister Abe will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday. The main issue at the meeting is expected to be North Korea.
3. A United Nations inquiry commission has concluded that Syrian government forces used the highly toxic sarin nerve gas on a rebel-held area earlier this year.
