1. US President Donald Trump and Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian have signed a memorandum of understanding to end the fighting. On Wednesday, after Trump wrapped up the Group of Seven summit in France, he attended a dinner at the Palace of Versailles, near Paris, where he signed the deal with Iran.
2. Japan’s Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako were welcomed as state guests at a banquet held at the Royal Palace Amsterdam. About 200 people took part in the event on Wednesday evening, which was hosted by Dutch King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima.
3. Japan’s Nikkei 225 stock index closed at a new high on Thursday, setting a record for the fourth consecutive day. The buying came on optimism an agreement between the US and Iran will end the fighting in the Middle East.
